Aftermath - Main Club - Albuquerque

The darkness of the club is nearly enveloping, the deep heavy pounding of the music thumping through the room. Everything is painted black, walls, floor and ceiling; only occasionally broken by steel or chrome decorations. Rectangular in shape, this club is defined by its round dance floor which dominates the center. Steps down lead to the pit of writhing bodies while metal railings and chrome fencing keep the loiterers on the upper tier separated from the dedicated dancers. Directly opposite of the main entrance is a stage that perches above the pit. A pair of bars can be found along the walls to either side in the cool down zones. Identical in decor, the bars stretch along the walls; the seats steel as are the handrails that run their length. The walls behind them are packed with liquor, the taps of beer change with the season. To the left of the stage is a door marked private, to the right is the emergency exit as well as the backstage area.

TV's are hung up around the room, chain link fencing over the screens. High backed booths are separated by short lengths of chrome fencing. The loud sounds of assorted Metal reverberates off the walls and most of the light comes from the televisions, which show music videos and horror movie clips. The atmosphere is dark with muted flashes of light; there are lots of dark nooks and shadows. Milling around the room are a couple of large men wearing employee shirts, and from the way they keep an eye on the crowd look to be the club's security.

The bar to the left of the dance pit:

The long black bar stretches along the wall to the left of the stage, the steel seats set up along it glimmering dully in the erratic lighting of the club. Chrome decorates the bar, from the handrail that runs the length to the fixtures on the wall behind it. The wall is fully stocked with liquor; the counter beneath it has two banks of taps, the assortment of beer changing by the season. The bartenders that move behind its length are, more often than not, pretty women in tight leather and vinyl.

Dance pit:
The dance pit is a sea of writhing bodies, bumping into one another in the disorganized chaos. The walls are padded in black, attempting to keep collisions from causing injury. The far wall, across from the stairs is entirely made up of televisions; their bright, strobing images providing bursts of light to streak across the pit, a protective sheet of plexi-glass on top to keep them from being broken. A row of red lights runs the corners of the floor and up the corners of the walls, providing some sense of depth in the dark.

Booth against the left wall:
One of four booths that line the outer most wall of the club, it has a high back, cushy seats made out of an easy clean vinyl with a round table in the center. The thick layer of plexi-glass over top of the table keeps people from carving it up, though a few have tried, drawing etchings into the thick, transparent layer. A drink menu is set up in the middle, as is the list of the few appetizers the bar serves; standard drunk fare of fries, cheese-sticks, potato skins and soft pretzels with cheese.

Security:

There are at least two Bouncers in employee shirts on duty at all time, milling in the crowd keeping an eye out for trouble. Big, muscled and angry looking they have no qualms about helping an unruly patron to the door.

Menu:
Aftermath isn't set up to be a fine dining experience by any stretch of the imagination. There's a wide variety of hard liquor, mixed drinks and a full bank of local and imported beers that change with the season. The only food available are a few appetizers; standard drunk fare of fries, cheese-sticks, potato skins and soft pretzels with cheese.

Age Check:
This is an 18 and older club. ID is checked at the door and anyone under twenty one gets a stamp, anyone over 21 gets a bracelet. The design of both changes randomly during the week, requiring patrons to get checked every time they come in.
