Caught between the fringe of the midtown area and the thriving neighborhoods surrounding the University of New Mexico, this part of University Avenue shows the effects of time and neglect. Weeds and scrub brush compete for space along the crumbling sidewalks, the pavement buckled and cracked. The buildings in the area look like they could use a new coat of paint or an outright renovation. A decrepit apartment building lurks on one side of the street, home to those who can't afford the well-groomed residences to the south.
