Description

The University of New Mexico continues its domination of the north side of Central Avenue along this block. The Yale entrance into the campus runs past a patch of greenery known as Yale Park and heads toward the City Water Reservoir building. To the east is the campus bookstore, referred to as the New Bookstore, although it is several years old. This bookstore is so big that it has its own parking lot. The Johnson Health, Physical Education and Recreation Center and Johnson Fields are just slightly further east.

Pleasant tree-lined side-streets with names like Harvard and Cornell make up the residential area due south of the University. The houses in the area are mostly one story, and seem to be occupied mainly by college students living close to campus. Many of these same students can be found heading toward Central and Cornell, the site of very popular Albuquerque diner -- the Frontier Restaurant, open 24 hours a day. Traffic is fairly heavy through the area, so bicycle and pedestrian traffic keeps close to the sidewalks to avoid cars zooming down Central.
