Example: Gary Gangrel has 1 dot in his Generation background. He wants to buy Protean 1. The cost is 5xp. When he wants to buy Protean 2, the cost is still 5xp. He has now bought as many dots of the discipline as he has dots of Generation + 1. For his third point of Protean, the multiplier goes to Dots x 10, and so Gary's 3rd dot of Protean is 20 xp. His 4th dot is also Dots x 10 for 30xp. He has now bought as many dots at this multiplier as he has dots of Generation + 1, and so the multiplier goes to Dots x 15. Gary's 5th dot of Protean will cost 4x15=60 xp.
