You know what the ground doesn't actually look like from the air? Google Maps. Well, not the versions where anything's marked for you, anyway. Go to satellite view and turn off the labels, then tell me how you get from point A to point B... starting with where those points are. That's where Navigation comes in.

Not just there, of course. Even with roadsigns and maps, it's not that much easier on the ground — Navigation's more than just 'turn right at the third light'. Travel can be inconvenient or even dangerous; you gotta prepare, find the best route, avoid delays, keep in mind where's safe to stop and rest or eat and where isn't, know what other routes you can take if the weather gets too bad or your enemies catch up with you... all in all, there's a lot to consider if you're gonna do it right.

x Ignorant: Uh... which way's North again?
• Student: Over the river and through the woods...
•• College: You can avoid delays whenever traveling.
••• Masters: You can plot a cross-country trek and make it comfortable.
•••• Doctorate: Roadblocks? Bad weather? Nothing will keep you from getting there.
••••• Scholar: You know the fastest way to go, where to stop along the way, what the weather's going to be like when you get there, and how much to tip when you top for coffee — ahead of time.
