FAQ

What should go in a renown recommendation?
When you are creating your renown recommendation, please include the following information: the nature of the activity (e.g., combat, mystical activities, rites and gifts, Garou relations, etc.) or exact item from the renown chart; the plot or scene during which the renown-worthy activity took place; the name of the individual running the plot or scene (if applicable); what the character did specifically. You do not need to include the award amount from the chart, as staff will adjust the award total based on multiple factors.

If a particular item from the chart has multiple associated renown types, please submit separate recommendations for each renown type. Please keep your recommendations to under one paragraph in length.

Examples:
+renown/p Malia/Wisdom=Fetishes and talens – creating a fetish. During a PRP run by John that was held at the Caern, Malia used the Rite of Binding to create a Grand Klaive.

+renown/n Malia/Glory=Litany. Malia refused an honorable challenge from John as part of a recent plot run by staff.
+renown/n Malia/Honor=Litany. Malia refused an honorable challenge from John as part of a recent plot run by staff.

According to the chart, I should have gotten 7 Glory for that battle, but I only got 2! Why is this?
The renown chart does not scale well for MUSH purposes. Because of this, we are cutting back on points earned, especially if it is something a character has done before, or is expected to do anyway. So, for example, the first time a character kills some banes or fomori, they may get the maximum amount of points for that combat. The next time, they might get only 1 point or nothing. An Ahroun defeating a minor threat would earn less than a Ragabash defeating the same Wyrm threat.

How do I get my monthly Honor renown for performing regular duties for the Sept?
If you are playing actively, we encourage you to engage in sphere RP. This gives you the chance to gain Honor renown once per RL month for performing regular duties and chores for the Sept—this includes activities such as interacting with Sept NPCs, keeping the Elders informed of your IC actions, off-screened Moots and other Rites, etc. Beginning RL March 1, 2015, to receive this renown (awarded on the last day of the RL month), you must provide a log (or scene summary) to staff that shows you have had at least one scene that month at the bawn RPing doing guard duty / spending gnosis for the offscreened moots / engaging in other sphere RP. If you are inactive OOC (e.g., idling, only logging in sporadically, etc.), you will not be penalized for failing to perform regular duties. However, if you are actively RPing, and do not provide a log (or scene summary) to staff that shows you have had at least one scene a month RPing at the bawn, you will be docked.

How do I get renown for telling a good story?
While we encourage IC storytelling in RP, the renown for telling a good story is earned via the rules for Oration or Performance (WTA pp.200-201). Rolls are typically a Social Attribute + Performance or Expression; at least 3 successes are needed to gain renown (see chart for additional details / modifiers). You'll be more likely to gain renown for telling stories that are sphere-relevant as opposed to simply recounting what you did last weekend.
