San Felipe Cathedral/Places

From Masq

The front pew:
In the nave are many mahogany pews, with burgundy padding for your knees and fine embossed prayerbooks. This pew is nearest the altar, allowing a fine view of some carvings.

The middle pew:
In the nave are many mahogany pews, with burgundy padding for your knees and fine embossed prayerbooks. This pew is toward the center of the nave. If you look up, there is a wonderful view of the vigas which support the cathedral's ceiling.

The back pew:
In the nave are many mahogany pews, with burgundy padding for your knees and fine embossed prayerbooks. This pew is set toward the apse of the church, a somewhat dark, quiet area.

The balcony:
Candles burn along the handrail of the spiral staircase which has been built around the trunk of a large spruce tree. The tree breaks through the floor and ceiling here, its base is surrounded by a circle of white stones that hold in a small pool of clear water over shiny, smooth rocks. Worshippers kneel here to receive holy water and pray, the stairs curving away overhead to a balcony. The raised balcony overlooks the cathedral, a pile of song books resting atop the railing. Looking out from the balcony, there is a breathtaking view of the stained glass window above the altar, glowing in splendiferous jeweled hues.

The confessional booth:
A small booth, divided by an ornate wooden screen. This is where confessions are heard.
