This block of University Avenue seems to be part of a quiet residential area. Mature trees shade the cleanly-swept sidewalks and the few houses which can be seen from the street appear to have been recently painted. There is a peaceful, almost rustic quality to the area; the frenetic college atmosphere of a few blocks away rarely travels this far to the north. Menaul Blvd. runs through the area on an east/west trajectory.

One side of the street is dominated by Spruce Park, a small neighborhood park and community garden. The park is accessible to everyone.
