Description

You find yourself on Old Town Bridge overlooking the Rio Grande. This is the next closest bridge to the south after I-40 and both foot and vehicular traffic is allowed. It is quite pleasant to stand upon the bridge and watch the river flowing underneath ('look river'). The slow trickle of the water is a contrast to the veritable flood of cars which zoom past, tires hissing on the pavement.

The river is about 30 feet below and a brownish color. The water is only about a foot deep through most of its channel. Toward the north, you can see riverside trails disappearing along the banks. The river area is popular for hiking and recreation.
