Nationality: American
Occupation: Student at UNM
Demeanor: Cynic
Apparent Age: late teens, early '20s

Nickname: Gareth, Gambit

Interests: Physics, music, the 2nd law of thermodynamics

description

This could be any young, male college student, and maybe it is. Gareth has dark brown hair, a supercuts style that's about four months past its due date. His skin seems naturally lightly-tanned and smooth, eyes an unrecognizable slur tht might be blue, might be brown, might be hazel, the combination that might come from a geneticist that is both indecisive and lazy. Add to a mild mouth, decent cheekbones and jaw - the only thing that stands out is an otherwise slight nose that looks like it was broken and reset at some point long in the past.

Gareth is possessed of a nervous energy. Today he wears a long-sleeved flannel shirt, a purple tee shirt with some kind of retro-gaming design on it, worn jeans, and Converse all-stars shoes. He might walk with a mild limp - or maybe people just have vivid imaginations. Nah, on second thought, he walks just fine.

Gareth's Earworm (this week):
(I've Got You) Under My Skin - Cole Porter (as covered by Jawbox)

I would sacrifice anything come what might
For the sake of having you near, in spite
Of a warning voice that comes in the night
It repeats, how it yells in my ear

"Don't you know, little fool, you ain`t got no chance to win
Why not use your mentality, get up, wake up to reality"
And each time I do, just the thought of you
Makes me stop just before I begin
Because I've got you under my skin

And I like you under my skin

quotes

(Wren) gives the woman a mischivous smile then looks back toward Gareth. "Who is he?" she gestures toward him.

"He is the Ring-winner and Luckwearer; he is the Barrel-rider. Or, maybe just this guy I see around. Hangs out here and at the Frontier. If I gave him real titles, instead of hobbit titles, they'd be The Egg Lover, and The Counter Hugger," Maxine quirks half a smile in Gareth's direction.

You paged Joel with ‘Ha! Same uniform :)’
It's 2:30 in the morning, so perhaps Gareth could be excused for being surprised. Joel assesses him, then looks down at himself -- they're both wearing flannel, a tee, and Chucks. "I like your style," Joel nods sagely to the new arrival.
Joel pages: I lol'd.
Joel pages: Even the same color eyes. You're like my TWIN
You paged Joel with ‘Holy crap. I thought I was so cool for writing that desc, too.’
You paged Joel with ‘Great minds and all :)’
From afar, Joel nods. Great minds think alike. Ours do, too!

"Mr. Danvers," says Quentin out of no where, not looking up, not looking Gareth's way. He doesn't even raise his voice, meaning that he has to be heard over the background noise of people, machinery, and pop music. Still, his voice carries. "After you get out of the lady's way, I expect you'll be sure to take a nap before the next time you set foot in my classroom. You can ill afford to attempt an education via osmosis by drooling on the textbook whoever your patron shelled out $173.00 for. In fact, were I a betting man, I would bet that the professor, that being me, will likely ask you a question on the reading material once every 7 minutes or so the next time you decide to grace us with your presence. Now, get out of the lady's way."

Meh 6. The Hermit: When the Hermit appears in a reading, know that you have a chance to recieve wisdom from the Divine, or from the spirit world. This can also indicate a meeting with a mentor or teacher, or an encounter with someone who can guide and lead you in your upcoming endeavors, whether they are spiritual or material. The Hermit reminds us that our goals can be attained, but the journey is not always smooth or easy.

A reversed Hermit card shows someone who is unwilling to listen to the wisdom of their elders, or who refuses to take advice even when it's offered from knowledgable sources. This can also mean a tendency to be immature, despite the inner knowledge that it's time to grow up..

more meh 2. The High Priestess: The High Priestess is the symbol of spiritual enlightenment, inner illumination, and the link between the seen and the unseen. She is balance and power in a feminine form. In a spread she often represents an unrevealed future with hidden influences at work, and a need to trust in one's intuition.

Reversed, the High Priestess symbolizes open knowledge and obvious facts. You'll be able to make decisions based on facts and logic. Occasionally this card reversed indicates sensual pleasures and self-centeredness, although this is not necessarily a bad thing.

Meh 13. Death: When Death appears in a Tarot reading, it indicates transformation and new opportunities. Although there may be a period of upheaval and even destruction, ultimately renewal and rebirth will follow.

Reversed, the Death card represents stagnation without change or a tendency to inertia. It can also show someone who refuses to adapt to change or accept new things.

more meh 12. The Hanged Man: The Hanged Man is a card of profound significance, although a lot of its meanings are hidden. This card is an indicator of wisdom as yet untapped or undiscovered, and even of prophetic power. The Hanged Man shows us a pause in our life, a moment of suspension in time. Material temptations are conquered on the way to spiritual transformation.

When reversed, the Hanged Man shows us someone who is resistent to spiritual influences or refused to accept that sacrifices must be made in order to grow and evolve. There is a sense of self-absorption, and of being too wrapped up in material matters.

Meh The Nine of Swords: It is one of the many paradoxes of human nature that a bed can both make you secure and release your inner fears to haunt you. The night often holds your greatest fears and terrors, including nightmares like the one which has woken the woman on the Nine of Swords. This card rules regret, anxiety and all the other things that make you sit in bed at all hours of the night, afraid to close your eyes and go back to sleep. Unlike the pain of the Three of Swords, which is caused by an exterior event, the Nine of Swords is a realm of inner anguish. You can run away from exterior pain, but you cannot hide from that which burns within you.

This isn't exactly a happy card to see, because it often shows deeply rooted emotional pain that simply refuses to go away. Usually this is either guilt or regret, and in either case you feel the pain because you wish you could go back and change what happened - but you cannot.
